Top 10 Seo Strategies That Bring Your Blogs To First Page Of Google

Almost everyone agrees that SEO is the best way to drive targeted traffic to your blogs. There are actually no more secrets for SEO, as there are many people know about it. However, the search engines are like a huge war now. How many people can survive in this huge war and get what they’re craving for?

So, which ways work the best and show the best results?

1) Target the right keywords

You’ll definitely get frustrated if your sites are ranked high in Google but you get no traffic. Targeting the right keywords are very important. Optimizing keywords that have no demand is wasting your time. Do some surveys to find out what are the most profitable keywords among your niches. After you’ve got your main keyword, don’t optimize it directly because it’s too competitive and you won’t be able to survive later. Instead, expand your main keyword. You can use this free tool to get the keyword suggestions. You should target 2 to 3 keywords which are in demand but less competitive.

2) Optimize the title and meta tags

After you’ve got the keywords that you want to target, you must put them in your blogs’ title and meta tags. Try to combine your keywords while doing this. For example, your keywords are “make money online from blogging” and “how to make money online easily”, you can combine them into something like “how to make money online from blogging easily” and put them as your title and meta tags. This step is essential for on-page SEO.

3) Optimize your posts with keywords

In order to let Google knows what you’re writing about, you should squeeze your keywords in your articles or posts.However, don’t overdo this, because you’ll be jai

led by Google. It’s advisable to put your keywords into your titles. The next places where you must insert your keywords are the first paragraph (Introduction) and the last paragraph (conclusion, final words). Repeat at least two times in each of these paragraph. You should also put your keywords into your content paragraphs. Bear in mind, maintain the keyword density at around 3% to 5%.

4) Categorize your posts and optimize the URLs

The common mistake that bloggers make is that they don’t categorize their posts or they categorize them as “uncategorized”. Avoid making this mistake now (Later you’ll know why). You should always categorize your posts properly so that Google knows what you’re blogging.

If you’re using WordPress, you must pay extra attention for this part! Change your permalinks structure into “/category%/%postname%/” without the quotes. The default permalinks won’t help you in SEO. For example, now you make a post titled “My tips to lose your weight almost instantly” and you categorize the post as “Weight loss tips”. Your post’s URL will be http://www.yourdomain.com/weight-loss-tips/my-tips-to-lose-your-weight-almost-instantly/ instead of the default which gives you something like http://www.yourdomain.com/?p=123. By using this permalinks structure, you can fully optimize your URLs.

5) Update your blogs frequently

Search engines love frequently updated blogs. Update your blogs often can get Google’s attention. Update your blogs with articles that fully optimized with your targeted keywords will do better effect for SEO. My suggested update frequency is at least 4 posts per week, and update daily if it’s possible.

6) Article marketing

This is an old way but it’s still very effective. Submit some quality articles to article directories such as EzineArticles, ArticlesBase and GoArticles. Always link back to your blogs with your keywords as the anchor texts. This a way that you can get unlimited one-way backlinks to your blogs. You will get more backlinks to your blogs if you submit more quality articles to the directories.

7) Commenting on blogs which have top commentator plugin

This is one of the easiest way to get tons backlinks to your blogs. All you need to do is to drop useful comments on those blogs, and try to become their top commentators. Subscribe those blogs so that you’ll be notified once they update their blogs. If you’re the top commentators of one blog, you’ll actually get backlinks from every page that you’ve dropped comments on. Well, I can’t say that this is a way to get quality backlinks, but quantities. You’ll get a vast sum of backlinks by using this way. Remember don’t spam. Most bloggers do install Akismet. If you’re recognized by Akismet as a spammer, what you’ve done will no longer useful.

Guest posting

Guest posting is another way that I love. Guest posting is similar as article marketing, the only difference is you’re submitting articles to other blogs. This enable you to get quality one-way backlinks to your blogs with your keywords as the anchor texts. The good side of guest posting over article marketing is that you’ll actually get traffic from other blogs.

9) Organize competitions

Organizing competitions is another powerful way to get more backlinks. This can depend on your creativity and your budget. You can always ask them to write a review about your blog or your products and link to your blogs with your keywords as the anchor texts. This is a way to get many quality backlinks. You can offer them cash or your products as rewards. I would suggest you to have at least around 150 unique visits per day before you organize a competition.

10) Forum Marketing

I believe you agree that forum marketing is one of the way to get massive traffic and build credibility. A very simple action that you should do is to put your blogs links as the forum signature. Focus in few dofollow forums and post frequently on them. I frequent forums at least once a day to drop some quality replies. Global Strategies for Search Engine Optimization & Web Marketing

Multinational corporations looking to bring their products to other countries through their websites many times make the mistake of believing the website will work fine in every new market. This article introduces search engine optimization and it will discuss various strategies for successful online marketing in foreign markets. As defined by www.wikipedia.com, “Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines.” Search engine optimization or SEO brings free organic traffic. Conversely, search engine marketing SEM is the use of paid placement for multiple keywords. Both strategies are tested using a cost benefit analysis. The research I provide in this article maximizes revenue and profit potential for web sellers. I describe the differences between white hat and black hat SEO practices and the consequences of each. Then I cover the application of international marketing principles to reduce costly cross border blunders.

I am the founder of Snowbirdseeker.com LLC., an online property management website that matches renters with seasonal rentals. The results of this article are from a combination of my own experiences and several cited academic sources. Since launching the site in June of 2008 I have learned search engine optimization through experience. After the website development completed, I outsourced a team of search engine optimization professionals from India to jumpstart a marketing plan. The

SEO work they performed was slow and regardless of income disparities the project was very expensive. The web development team was in my opinion great at writing code and making things work, but simple things like spelling and subject verb agreement were chronic issues. Gradually some of their search engine submissions gained decent rank, but the effects on traffic were nominal. Although they spoke English fairly well I did not feel the submissions were compelling and thus had a negative impact on our click through rate. The SEO consultants were too expensive for the results which coincide with the findings of industry research. “Buyers using search engines to look for information tend to trust and follow

links displayed in the editorial section of the search-results page. Most on-line sellers,however, do not invest in search engine optimization (SEO) to get higher search-results rankings for their listings, but instead prefer paid placements. They explain that SEO is

more expensive than paid placements, produces results that do not justify its cost, and does not consistently lead to high search-results rankings.” (Sen, 2005) Cost may inhibit future expenditures on SEO professionals, but since listings in the free editorial section of search engines are more trusted by buyers, I decided to continue their marketing efforts. However, this time I would be handling the SEO project using available research on the subject.

Search Engine Optimization Strategies

Before starting a SEO project it is important to familiarize yourself with words like keywords, click through rate, and metatags, that are part of the search engine vocabulary. Keywords are those words or phrases that one uses to perform a search. Using various keyword traffic and keyword competition estimators a list of keywords should be compiled for optimization. With this list of keywords one can begin onsite and offsite optimization. Onsite optimization involves adding the keywords in the content, title tags, meta tags, and even part of the domain address when possible. Off site optimization is often referred to as link building and this is done by requesting inbound links from other webmasters, submitting press releases, and submitting articles. The primary goal of the search engine optimizer is to make all components of the website search engine friendly. The difficulty is trying to gain high page rank on each search engine when they all have different search algorithms. Just because you rank high on one search engine does not mean that you will rank the same on the other. For example if you search for “seasonal rentals” using Google you will not find my website’s listing, but if you perform the same search using Microsoft’s Bing search engine you will see Snowbirdseeker.com ranked among the top 10 results. “The main hurdle to implementing an effective SEO program is the fact that each search engine has its own requirements, which means that a Web site optimized for one search engine is not necessarily optimized for the others. Pages optimized for Google, for instance, should clearly and accurately describe the content, and cannot participate in link-exchange schemes designed to the site’s ranking. But the same page is not necessarily optimized for Yahoo, which requires that pages not be automatically generated or of little “value,” and not participate in cross-linking sites just to inflate a site’s apparent popularity. The many different requirements make search-engine optimization much harder and arguably more costly to implement. In addition, SEO does not consistently result in high rankings and therefore leads to unpredictable traffic. This is because search engines tend to vary their ranking algorithms on “natural search listings,” and in response, SEO specialists have to “guess” and adapt to ever-changing strategies and tactics to either maintain their positions or improve their rankings.” (Sen, 2005)

Keyword selection is often as important as actually optimizing the keywords themselves. For instance I use the keyword “advertise vacation rentals” to attract potential rental owner members. Anyone who searches for this keyword is likely looking for advertisement services and is more likely to post an ad than someone who searches for “vacation rental advertisements”. Instead this keyword would attract someone looking to rent. Both of these keywords could be useful since the premise and mission of my website is to help renters find rental owners and vice versa. On the other hand it can be important to know which keywords are having a negative impact. I used Google Analytics to monitor my visitors and their behavior to optimize the website for future visitors. Google Analytics enables webmasters to track metrics on individual visitors like keyword used, pages viewed, Time spent, and bounce rate. The bounce rate is the percentage of visitors who leave the site after less than 20seconds. SEO specialists can eliminate those keywords with exorbitant bounce rates. Understanding how people perform searches is crucial to any web marketer. “Another example: If you are writing news releases for law firms, for instance, you’ll want to know if searchers tend to use “lawyer,""lawyers," "attorney" or "attorneys" to search for a law firm. Or do the searchers type in auto accident lawyer into the search engine? Keep in mind that most searchers will type "website" instead of’Web site" (AP Style) in the search field. You need to incorporate those kinds of particulars into the Web content to be sure that your organization is found.” (Faulhaber, 2009)

PPC Advertising

Since I was frustrated with the slow progress that my original SEO team was making I asked them how I could get traffic faster. They recommended using Google Adwords a pay per click program that enables any website owner to advertise on search engines. This type of marketing is called search engine marketing SEM and I quickly learned that it is a very effective way to attract a target audience. In the table below I show a typical advertising campaign summary.

Operation of Adwords programs is fairly straight forward, but you quickly learn there are many tools and factors that can affect your campaign’s success. The above table shows various performance statistics on a text advertisement. Clicks are the number of times a search engine user actually clicks on your advert. Impressions are the number of times that the advertisement was shown in the results list. The Click through rate CTR is impressions divided by clicks. Since this is a pay per click program there is no charge for impressions that do not result in clicks. I set my maximum cost per click CPC at $0.15 and I learned that Google’s software only charges you one cent above the next highest bidder. In the above table there is a charge of $0.13 CPC which means that my closest competitor set a maximum CPC of $0.12. The software also enables users to set daily budget limits. I set my budget at $3.00/day and the program will usually stay at or near that limit. When using Adwords web marketers can create text ads using the following parameters. Headline 25 characters max then you can enter two lines of description at 35 characters max. each and finally the destination url address. Below is an example of an effective ad that produced the results in the table.

Using the keyword selection tool I choose which keywords prompt my advertisement to be shown as an impression. The program offers various tracking statistics to let the web marketer know which keywords are performing the best. I found that when I used this program more visitors converted and became members of my website. The Google Adwords program can be costly, but with practice it can turn profitable. In retrospect I learned that the best way to plan for a SEO project is to first launch a comprehensive ad campaign using pay per click marketing. This allowed me to find out which keywords and advertising phrases work best to bring traffic to my website. It also is a great medium to test out website performance in foreign markets because the risk and investment are minimal. For instance during one advertising campaign in Canada I learned that one rental owner could not pay the membership fee because the Paypal payment portal was not set up to accept Canadian addresses. My experience as a web entrepreneur has taught me that the best way to uncover issues with websites is to use PPC advertising and listen for customer feedback.

Foreign Market SEO

International marketers for multinational corporations need to be aware that while they may be optimizing their website in the domestic market the same website will not rank the same internationally. Mark Jackson of Search Engine Watch says “If you were searching while in Canada, on google.ca, Google figures that domains with .ca might be a better result for you than .com. The top three rankings for "travel" on Google.ca are Expedia.ca, Expedia.com, and Yahoo Canada Travel.” (Jackson, 2009) This finding is interesting because the Expedia.com page has many times more indexed links than Expedia.ca. Under normal circumstances Google would place a higher rank on the site with higher indexed pages and better title tags, but in this case Google believes the better result is the .ca domain.

Business executives are notorious for cutting costs, so it is not surprising to learn of their multidomestic approach to website marketing. Some website executives only offer their content stating that adding content in a foreign language would be expensive. The leading international marketers will seek access to every foreign market regardless of language. “One researcher suggests that if a Web site does not have at least multiple languages, a company is losing sales. It is the company’s responsibility to bridge the language and cultural gap; the customer will not bother—he or she will simply go to a site that speaks his or her language. As discussed, culture does count, and as competition increases, a country-specific Web site may make the difference between success and failure.” (O’keefe,2002) It is possible that you may be able to achieve some sales in foreign markets using an English only website, but gradually this will affect customer repurchase loyalty. International marketers cannot expect that simply optimizing their website in the foreign markets language will protect them from foreign litigation. Companies must also be aware that 1st amendment rights are not universal in each country. International marketers should be familiar with the political and legal environment of each country that they are entering with their website’s services.

White Hat vs. Black Hat SEO

With a basic knowledge of search engine optimization one only needs to study white hat vs. black hat SEO before executing the project. Essentially white hat optimizers do so ethically and are not trying to mislead their visitors or the search engines. On the other hand black hat SEO practitioners manipulate data, keywords, html code, and they create pages not visible to humans that are to boost a site’s rank. Using white hat practices and avoiding most black hat practices will usually be the best strategy to rank well and avoid too much attention from search engine management. “However, certain SEO techniques directly violate the guidelines published by the search engines. While the specific guidelines vary a bit, they can all be summed up as: show the same content to search engines as you show to users. Failure to conform to search engine guidelines can lead to penalties, such as worse placement in the SERPs or an outright ban from the search engine.” (Malaga, 2008) Early black hat SEO specialists used html text that was the same color as the background to boost ranking on the search engines, while showing human visitors a different message. Search engines quickly caught on to this behavior and penalized sites for using the practice. Black hat practitioners also set up hundreds and sometimes thousands of blogs with a link to their website and then they would continually ping the blogs causing indexing spiders to crawl the blogs and rank the linked site higher. This practice is still in use today by white hat professionals who might create 20 blogs and ping them only when a legitimate update has been made to the website. The field of search engine optimization is like any industry in that ultimately ethical conduct will be rewarded.

I described and introduced search engine optimization and website marketing. I analyzed data from my own pay per click advertising campaign. Based on the results I was able to conclude that SEM or PPC marketing should receive more marketing budget than SEO efforts. Since SEO could not produce consistent high rankings on all of the search engines at once web marketers should continue relying on their Google Adwords program to target their customers. However, this does not mean that SEO should be discarded because my findings suggest that users trust the listings in the editorial section of the search engine results over those in the sponsored advertisement field. Furthermore, listings with high ranks in the editorial section bring traffic for free. I discovered the best way to create a SEO plan is to first run a pay per click ad campaign to learn which keywords and phrases work best. My research also revealed that domain extensions are very important when marketing internationally. As a result of my SEO efforts I have tripled site traffic. International marketers that plan to sell their products abroad need to apply international marketing principles to all aspects of their business including website design. In web search engine marketing if you are not appearing you are disappearing.

These add to the sites appeal and often times will draw in more users than the lifeless and dull and uninteresting “search and only search” sites.

To get high natural search results on search engines like Google and Yahoo, getting back links to your website is something that you cannot afford not to do. Although there are a lot of people that use SEO black hat strategies to obtain many back links, search engines nowadays can easily detect those folks. To get back links, you do not need to use any black hat strategies at all. Let me share with you some of the top link building strategies that will increase the link popularity of your site:

1. Directory links. Directory links are important one-way links for your site and you ought to include this type of link into your link building strategies. Some of more popular directories like Yahoo will require you to pay a certain amount of money to get listed. Many others are free of charge and you just need to spend some time to add your website to the right categories. However, do not go overboard with too many directories per month, as this may sometimes cause search engines to see you as a spammer. Making your directory linking more natural is the key to SEO success.

2. Article bio links. This type of link can be obtained by writing articles and submitting them to various article directories. If the content of your article is good, you will stand a chance of getting your articles syndicated to various websites. This will further increase your back links. You can also approach industry authority sites that accept submissions from guest writers. This is definitely a good way to get good authority links from high profile websites.

Submit your sites to social book marking sites like Digg and Reddit, post comments on do-follow blogs, and syndicate your content to RSS directories.

When you are building links for your site, balance is the key to success. Do not go overboard and build hundreds of links in a single day. Spread it out and use all the tools that you can find to help you with it.

Having been in the business of optimizing web sites for high search engine rankings for over five years now, I have come across a number of “optimized” sites that use search engine optimization (SEO) techniques that are just plain WRONG.

It may not have hurt me that much if the mistakes were committed by SEO beginners not yet familiar enough with the industry to determine SEO fact from SEO fiction. But what’s scary is that some of the sites I’ve seen using incorrect methods have been optimized by so called search engine optimization “experts” who really should know better and must have done better.

I intend discuss the relevance of Google page ranking in SEO through this article. It is an accepted fact among SEOs that striving to get a top rank with the Google directory is all that matters in the long run. How far is this hypothesis correct from the point of view of a professional marketer?

Statistics reveal that of all visitors to a particular website more than 75% originate from Google! ii) Identifying directories with a high ranking as prospective link exchange partners.

There is no way to know whether the links have been purchased from link farms or from high ranking directories that capitalize on their popularity to mint money by demanding a payment for displaying external links. Page ranking, which have thus been ‘purchased’ rather than attained on merit, is a lot different from the point of view of a quality analyzer. Unfortunately there are no methods available to classify websites on the basis of procurement methods used to reach their rankings.

But, how frequently is the ranking updated on the tool bar? What is relevance in SEO?

“Relevance” is a central concept in search engine marketing, but you will be hard pressed to find any reasonable definition for it. Most SEO experts take the term for granted, and the rest of us just nod along. It is not very complicated, but it does involve some very core ideas, so listen closely. In SEO, relevance is a criteria used by search engines to determine the importance of a target (page, keyword, website) within a niche. Since search engines are primarily concerned with serving user queries, the role of relevance comes up most often during searches. For example, if I search for the term “search marketing” on Google, the search engine will analyse its index and provide me a list of web pages ranked by how “relevant” they are to “search marketing” – in this case the top result is www.overture.com, now known as Yahoo! Search Marketing. Note that search engines don’t explicitly deal with niches or categories of websites. Instead, an SE treats the Internet as a loosely defined grouping of topical pages, with those topics forming sub-groups of their own.

Search engines and relevance

Search engines assume that websites in general will follow the mantra of “information-targeting”, with the ideal website in a niche being the one that is most relevant to that niche. Sounds simple, right? Here is where it gets interesting. Search engines measure relevance on different levels, or different categories if you may. Once you understand the above definition, they all make sense by themselves. For starters, there is content relevance – is this page’s content relevant to a search query (and that query’s projected niche)? This is where on-page optimization is so important. Search engines use keywords to measure relevance, but they aren’t checking for keyword density; in fact, they are checking for keywor

d placement in the page. A second criteria is link relevance – whether the sites linking to you are “relevant” – i.e. in the same niche (or closely related to the niche), and whether the sites YOU link to are relevant as well. This is, in a nutshell, off-page optimization or link-building. Relevance in search engine optimization has been the biggest stumbling block for webmasters – the concept is so important that every aspect of SEO is governed by it, but yet so obvious that many of us overlook it.

How useful is keyword density

Keyword density was once the single most important criteria for judging the value of a webpage. I’m talking back in the pre-Google era (now if THAT doesn’t give you a hint about how outdated keyword density is…). However, with Google’s PageRank algorithm and the general trend towards off-page factors determining more and more of your website’s rankings – the importance of keyword density as an on-page optimization tool diminished. People continued to theorize about what the ideal keyword density should be, and estimates ranged from 2% to 8%. Keyword density, in case you are wondering, is measured by the following formula:

d = x / y where:

x = No. of times a keyword is used in a block of content (page)

y = total word count of the page

d = keyword density

The problem with keyword density is quite simple – it is very, very easy to manipulate and spam. Spammers used automated content generators to create highly optimized web pages with high keyword densities. As search engines started to set limits on “acceptable” keyword density, spammers got smarter and smarter and reduced their keyword density as well, making it especially hard for search engines to separate spam content from genuine, useful content. Since search engines could not conceivably check every page manually (As a rough estimate, Google indexes 8.1 billion pages – and pages are added daily), and they couldn’t tolerate spam in their search results, search engines devalued keyword density as a ranking tool. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if keyword density did NOT affect your rankings – in fact, keyword positioning (placing the keywords in title tags and header tags) as well as thematic keyword relevance (a fancy term that refers to how related your core keywords are to your website’s main theme or niche) is far more important in terms of on-page optimization. And that, of course, pales in comparison to how important off-page optimization, or link building, is. So, if possible, ignore the bounds of keyword density and focus on the following:

* Good, useful, quality content

* Keyword positioning

* Keyword relevance

And once you’re done with the basics, move on to the next page (or start building links).

Do web pages need a minimum number of words to rank well?

There’s a myth going around in some search engine forums that you should have a minimum word count for web pages to satisfy search engine requirements. Let’s put that myth to rest – there’s no minimum requirement for web pages to rank well – in fact, there are many, many web pages that rank at the top position for highly competitive terms WITHOUT having too many words on them – for example, a search for the term “resume samples” on Google gives a top result of a page that has ONLY links on it – no serious content. This is a highly competitive term with over 150,000 searches each month according to Yahoo Search Marketing – a figure that translates to almost a million searches each month on Google. In other words, word count is not the defining criteria for high rankings – you could have 250 words, or 500, or 1000, or even just a 100 words, but that is still a small part of your on-page optimization, which in itself plays a small part in determining your website’s rankings. In practice, you will always have different types of pages – some will be main pages for the website or link pages (both usually lacking too much content), while others will be article or informative pages with loads of content. The key is to work on the right page structure for each type of page, and not the word count.

How often should I change the anchor text in my backlinks? The short answer to that is: pretty often. The long answer?

Well, it starts with a definition. Whenever we talk about link-building, it seems necessary to mention organic SEO – where other websites link to your website “by themselves” (as opposed to an “artificial” link exchange) because they genuinely find it useful. Why is this important? Because once you understand what search engines are looking for in links, you’ll know how to dominate the rankings. Relevant to the question, search engines try to measure the “originality” of the link – that is, the chances that this link was natural or “artificial”. Since most of the links (and almost all of the ones that you will get in the beginning) pointing to your website are artificial, you have to make them look organic to avoid any penalties from the search engines. For example, suppose that you are setting up a website on copywriting – assuming that you have the on-page optimization done and dusted, let’s talk about how you can regularly change your anchor text.

Your Anchor Link Strategy

First, we take your core list of keywords:

* Copywriting techniques

* Learn copywriting

* Copywriting seo

* Copywriting tips

* Copywriting course

* Copywriting services

And so on. Now, take each keyword, work it in an attractive headline and write 1-2 lines describing your website – no hype, no keyword spamming – make it attractive and useful to the reader. Make sure that each description is different – it cannot be totally different, but it should change a bit. If you do that for each keyword, you have 10 or more sets of link details – the headline makes the anchor text and the 2 lines will act as a description. Once you have this set, start from the first combination and switch to the next one after 25-30 links. This way you can cycle through your list and maybe get to 300 to 400 backlinks before you get through your set of anchor text and description combinations. If you have fewer core keywords (a tiny niche), you can space out the changes – say every 50 links or so. What to do when the list is up? Alter the anchor text and descriptions for each keyword and do that for the whole list, then start all over.

If you follow this formula not only will you be able to regularly alter your anchor text (and thus make the link-building process look natural), but by targeting so many keywords within the list you can also end up ranking highly for all of them.
